“Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, an illness, an anxiety, a grief or mental worry or even the pricking of a thorn but Allah will expiate his sins on account of his patience”.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

وَٱلضُّحَىٰ (1) وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ (2) مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ (3) وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ (4) وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ (5) أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمٗا فَـَٔاوَىٰ (6) وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلّٗا فَهَدَىٰ (7) وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلٗا فَأَغۡنَىٰ (8) فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ (9) وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنۡهَرۡ (10) وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ (11)

“By the morning sunlight, and the night when it falls still, Your Lord [O Prophet] has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful [of you]. And the next life is certainly far better for you than this one. And ]surely] your Lord will give so much to you that you will be pleased. Did He not find you as an orphan then sheltered you? Did He not find you unguided then guided you? And did He not find you needy then satisfied your needs? So do not oppress the orphan,nor repulse the beggar. And proclaim the blessings of your Lord”

 أَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَكَ صَدۡرَكَ ١ وَوَضَعۡنَا عَنكَ وِزۡرَكَ ٢ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهۡرَكَ ٣ وَرَفَعۡنَا لَكَ ذِكۡرَكَ ٤ فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا ٥ إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرٗا ٦ فَإِذَا فَرَغۡتَ فَٱنصَبۡ ٧ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرۡغَب ٨

  1. “Have We not expanded your breast? 2. And We removed from you your burden, 3. Which weighed down your back? 4. And We exalted your reputation for you? 5. Then, surely with hardship comes ease: 6. Surely, with hardship comes ease, 7. So when you have finished (with your immediate task), still strive hard, (then toil), 8. And to your Lord turn (all) your attention.”

Surah Inshirah or Surah Ash-Sharh consists of 8 verses and is the 94th chapter of the Quran. The surah is named after the word “Inshirah,” which translates to “The Expansion” or “The Relief.” It was revealed in Makkah during a period when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was facing hardships and challenges so it’s highly recommended as surah for depression.

Surah Nas 

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيمقُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ (1) مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ (2) إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ (3) مِن شَرِّ ٱلۡوَسۡوَاسِ ٱلۡخَنَّاسِ (4) ٱلَّذِي يُوَسۡوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ (5) مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ (6)

Say: “I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind, (1)The King of mankind, (2)The Ilah (God) of mankind, (3)From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one’s heart after one remembers Allah), (4)Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, (5)Of jinns and men.” (6)

The central theme of Surah Nas is seeking refuge in Allah from the evil that exists within ourselves and from external sources, particularly the whispers and insinuations of Satan. It emphasizes the importance of turning to Allah for protection and guidance in times of difficulty and temptation.
